BrainWave Solutions Inc. principals have developed dozens of training-related
PowerPoint presentations for public and private sector clients, including
presentations on:
- shipboard procedures for naval officer trainees
- product lines and sales skills for company sales representatives
- technical features and operating procedures for telecommunications
support staff
- software customization procedures for developers and programmers
We've completed significant revisions to a multi-authored suite of
presentations on basic concepts of telecommunications to make them
more consistent and effective training tools.
We've also converted a self-paced course into an interactive PowerPoint
lesson that learners could work through on their own. Learners read
through the material, answered multiple-choice questions, and received
remedial feedback on their performance.
In every case, the challenge was to create a visual presentation
that would:
- support the training objectives
- reinforce key teaching points
- illustrate abstract or complex ideas
- add visual interest to the training
In certain instances, the presentation had to summarize the entire
session content, because the client wanted to distribute a printout
of the slideshow as a Participant Guide.
Our PowerPoint presentations featured:
- a unique visual "brand" for all lessons in a training
program, to help tie the content together in the learner's mind
- consistent use of formatting conventions, so that learners could
more easily "read" the slides in every lesson of the training
- introductory and summary slides to keep learners and presenters
oriented
- subtle cues to keep the presenter oriented
- graphics and animations to illustrate abstract concepts and complex
procedures
- timely summaries of key teaching points to reinforce learning
acquisition and retention
- questions to confirm learner understanding
- guidelines for learner activities
Training staff who used our presentations reported that they were
invaluable additions to the course materials. Trainers appreciated
the effective use of graphics, the cogent summaries of key points,
and the summary slides that kept trainer and trainee alike oriented.
Training sessions that used our presentations were reported to be
much more successful than those which did not use them.
