As a result of major departmental re-organization within a BC Government Ministry, key instructor-led training programs and eLearning applications required revision. Ministry staff approached BrainWave to for help with both these priorities.
The Ministry wanted to update the training content and, in the process,
move toward competency-based training. They asked BrainWave to review
the existing eLearning to determine the revisions required to enhance
the application's usability and learning effectiveness.

Because of time and budgetary constraints, we did not undertake a
comprehensive evaluation, but reviewed a small sample of material
to gain a sense of the degree to which it was competency-based and
how easily it could be re-purposed to meet changing Ministry needs.
We spent several hours working with the application, noting instances
of poor usability, inconsistent functionality, and compromised instructional
design integrity.
One of the major weaknesses of the system was the manner in which
test questions were handled, and we spent considerable time reviewing
this feature and identifying the improvements needed. These were summarized
in a five-page report.

The client reports that they found BrainWave's recommendations very
useful. Most of the recommended changes were incorporated into the
new version of the eLearning application.
